Reading/Writing

This week we are learning about the attributes of a fairy tale or what makes a story a fairy tale.  We are reading two different versions of Cinderella and then comparing their similarities and differences. The first one is the Disney version and then we will read The Rough Faced Girl, a Native American Version.  Today we read the story Squirrel’s New Year’s Resolution and discussed that a resolution is a promise we make to ourselves to be better at something or to help others. After we read the story we made our own resolutions.

Math

We are finishing up our unit on graphs this week.  We are learning about pictographs and how they use pictures to show the data collected.  The key on the pictograph shows what picture is being used throughout the graph. We will also review how to read and answer questions about Tally Charts and Bar graphs.
