Reading

Our focus this week will be learning about different types of poetry. 

1. Cinquain
2. Five Senses
3. Acrostic
4. Haiku

We will also be learning about the elements of poetry=

1. Verse= one line of a poem, also called a line
2.  Stanza= a group of verses or lines
3. Rhyme= words at the end of verses that have the same sound
4. Rhythm= a pattern of weak and strong sounds in a poem; which words are emphasized as you read the poem?
5. Meter= a verse’s number of syllables plus its rhythm

 

Math

We will continue reviewing double digit subtraction with regrouping as well as triple digit subtraction with regrouping.

Phonics/Spelling

This week we are learning and reading about Tall Tales and the elements of a Tall Tale.  

 

Math

We are learning different strategies to solve double digit subtraction with regrouping. There are several different rhymes to help us remember when we need to regroup.
