Information About School Closures

Covid-19 Update (April 17, 2020)

White Oak Independent School District

As many are aware, today Governor Abbott officially closed Texas school districts for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.  While he has outlined a process for ‘slowly’ opening the Texas economy, it was determined that keeping school districts closed was in the best interest of the state from a medical and scientific standpoint.

What does this mean for White Oak ISD?

  • The Continuity of Education (home learning) will continue for all grade levels through May 20th as is required by T.E.A.
  • The meal program will continue through May 20th.
  • Trustees will revise grading procedures for this closure period, and we will disseminate that information in the coming days.  Procedures will be developed so that no students are negatively impacted.
  • Information will be disseminated regarding possible graduation plans for our seniors in the coming days.
  • Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath will be disseminating ‘Guidelines for Texas School Closures’ in the coming days and White Oak ISD will follow those directives and disseminate that information when it is made available.
  • More information will be sent out regarding gathering personal items, returning school devices etc., as we near the end of the school calendar year.

We appreciate your continued support of White Oak ISD during these very challenging times.
